Book Review | One Beats The Bush by Riall Nolan - The First in the Max Donovan Adventure Series

One Beats The Bush is a well-paced action thriller that ticks multiple boxes; page-turning twists, fight scenes, a lot of crime and, more importantly, a main character you cannot help but love. Vietnam veteran Max Donovan is in Bangkok, and very hungover, when his friend “Fat” Freddie Fields is arrested in San Francisco for the murder of an Australian diplomat. He knows his old buddy would never hurt a fly, so he rushes back to the Bay Area to help. Unfortunately, the only clue he has suggest the answer lies in the jungle-covered mountains of Papua New Guinea. Book Review | Ghosted by Mo Fanning - An Easy Read, Hard Hitting Novel

I am very excited to be taking part in the Random Things Tour for Ghosted by Mo Fanning. I was completely drawn in by the blurb of this book and I am happy to say I enjoyed every step of the way.

Ghosted follows Silas as he gets a last minute job on a gay cruise ship with the ultimate goal of seeing his estranged son, and Ellen a guest on the cruise hoping to fulfil a bucket list dream. Unfortunately, not everything goes to plan and both Silas and Ellen are faced with multiple hurdles, can they overcome them and achieve their ultimate goal of the cruise ship and find peace in their life?

This story is told from two perspectives, Silas and Ellen, and Fanning manages this perfectly. The narrative changes between the two narratives very seamlessly and effortlessly, making it super easy to follow. Fanning also showcases their writing ability by covering a few controversial and hard hitting topics in a light manor. Ghosted touches on homophobia, chronic illnesses, loneliness and death to name a few, but Fanning mixes these topics with fun and loving characters. The polar opposites between the topics and the main characters helps keep this book light and fun to read.

Once I finished reading Ghosted I was left with a few questions, firstly what happened with the ‘funny business’ that was going down on the ship? I feel like it was brushed over very quickly and I would have loved to see that play out more. And secondly, and more importantly, what happens with Silas and Ellen? Do they meet up after the cruise? Do they get their happy endings?

Thank you again to Random Things Tours and Mo Fanning for including me in this book review tour, it means a lot and I really enjoyed Ghosted!
