Book Review | One Beats The Bush by Riall Nolan - The First in the Max Donovan Adventure Series

One Beats The Bush is a well-paced action thriller that ticks multiple boxes; page-turning twists, fight scenes, a lot of crime and, more importantly, a main character you cannot help but love. Vietnam veteran Max Donovan is in Bangkok, and very hungover, when his friend “Fat” Freddie Fields is arrested in San Francisco for the murder of an Australian diplomat. He knows his old buddy would never hurt a fly, so he rushes back to the Bay Area to help. Suspecting Freddie is being framed, Donovan tries to rustle up some cash to bail him out, but only succeeds in getting into trouble with the local mob.  He’ll have to solve the case on his own. Unfortunately, the only clue he has suggest the answer lies in the jungle-covered mountains of Papua New Guinea. Book Review | Champagne at Seven by Toni Glickmam - Book One of Bitches of Fifth Avenue Series

This blog posts marks my stop on the review tour for Champagne at Seven by Toni Glickman, book one in the Bitches of Fifth Avenue series.

Oliver Wyatts exclusive last minute D.C. dinner party didn’t quite end how she had anticipated. Olivia and her daughter, Gwynnie, suddenly need to rebuild their lives - and themselves. Olivia reluctantly moves to New York City and is on the prowl for work, only to find herself fighting in the trenches of a new, more intense luxury retail sales war. She is now working alongside Bitches of Fifth Avenue in a gut-wrenching and nerve-wracking struggle to maintain her sanity, and her bank balance.

This was such a fun book to read! Not only is it written in a way that is just unbelievable effortless to read, the characters were so loveable. Firstly, Olivia is a fantastic main character - relatable, funny and stylish. I have been cheering her on since the first page and enjoyed watching her story unravel. And then theres Marguerite - she that just reminds me of my grandma, pure but firm.

The first half of the book focuses around the ‘scandal’ that forces Olivia and her daughter to move, and although I would have loved the second half to take up more of the story I found it fun slowly watching the scandal unravel. Glickman doesn’t give anything away too quickly or too obviously. It’s fed to you in drips which makes reading it all that more fun and exciting.

I cannot wait to see what Olivia gets up to in the next book! Thank you Toni Glickman and Literally PR for including me in this tour, it means the world!
