Book Review | One Beats The Bush by Riall Nolan - The First in the Max Donovan Adventure Series

One Beats The Bush is a well-paced action thriller that ticks multiple boxes; page-turning twists, fight scenes, a lot of crime and, more importantly, a main character you cannot help but love. Vietnam veteran Max Donovan is in Bangkok, and very hungover, when his friend “Fat” Freddie Fields is arrested in San Francisco for the murder of an Australian diplomat. He knows his old buddy would never hurt a fly, so he rushes back to the Bay Area to help. Suspecting Freddie is being framed, Donovan tries to rustle up some cash to bail him out, but only succeeds in getting into trouble with the local mob.  He’ll have to solve the case on his own. Monthly Wrap Up | March 2022

March was a very busy month for me, with being away with work for two weeks and balancing things in my personal life, so I didn’t get as much reading done as I would have wanted. However, I did read some brilliant books this month!! It doesn’t happen often when you read three 5 star books in the one month, but March did not disappoint.

What I Read

The Sanatorium by Sarah Pearse

Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

The Appeal by Janice Hallett

The Lighthouse by Fran Dorricott

My Favourite Book of the Month

This is a hard one as I generally loved every book this month, and even rated three of them five stars. But if I did have to pick it would be The Appeal. I am a sucker for murder mystery, and this fresh and unique way of approaching a murder mystery book was so heartwarming. Not to mention the plot and characters were superb.

Next Months Plans

For April I don’t have many plans. I have a few physical and e-book proofs of books that are due out this month, that I still haven’t read, so my plan is to try and read some if not all of them. But I’m really just gonna see how I’m feeling when I need to pick my next read, some go with the flow reading.

What was your favourite book in March? And do you have any reading plans for April, any must reads for this month?
